Origin and development
At the very beginning, of the complicated years after the war, Edgar Held recognized the necessity to protect the hands of the people against injuries at work and coldness the whole year round. Since the beginning the main goal was to make the protective second skin as kindly and at the same time as tough as possible. Natural and resistant kinds of leather ever since fulfill that aim best. Together with its high standard of perfect workmanship quality, Held gloves offered the customers always maximum comfort and utility.
The growing prosperity in the sixties and the increasing fashion consciousness allowed Held to go new ways. Because of the change of the social needs and the growing variety of materials, Held could develop new gloves for the rising market. Through the increase in motorization of the general population in the seventies, Held started to develop the first motorcycle gloves. Together with famous motorcycle drivers Held developed the first high performance models for the motorcycle racing, this quality you can still find in the serial models.
Products on the highest level belong to our self-conception at that time and today, and are honored with many awards and top marks in numerously tests. The great willingness for innovation, permanent improvement together with the flexibility and passion of a family business in the 3rd generation, created the preconditions for this. The solidarity and loyalty to the over 150 employees and long-term cooperation with more than 3000 dealers in Europe complete the pillars of success.
The advancement from a motorcycle glove manufacturer to a complete production line for motorcycle clothing is a logical consequence. With the gloves from our in-house production we probably offer the best product in its category. The leather clothing of Arlen Ness and Berik completes the Held apparel assortment and are marketed exclusively in Germany and Switzerland. To round off the product line for the German market, Held offers products of the brands Cardo, Luma, Hell´s Kitchen and KBC.

“Today we are working in the motorcycle clothing industry and have dedicated us long range to produce quality products on the highest level. With our products we want to improve the conditions for motorcycle riders in everyday life and leisure and to support you, to have fun as well as to afford you a maximum protection during your ride. We are widely involved with motorbike racing, because we are able to introduce important knowledge, the race drivers can give us while they claim our materials and workmanship extremely in their racings, in the development of serial models. For this purpose, we are also looking for co-operation partners, which are material manufactures or suppliers of products with the same quality standards, to complete the Held range suggestive. Thus we want to ensure the motorcyclists and our trading partners around the world the best possible supply of motorcycle accessories from one source.”
