Everyone at Held was extremely pleased when arguably the UK’s most influential road tester, MCN’s Trevor Franklin, called up and asked if he could try a suit from our Quattrotempi GORE-TEX range.
Trev had been asked to evaluate Yamaha’s Super Ténéré on a demanding launch event, which would see him travel hundreds of miles through all kind of terrain, from snow capped mountain passes to arid desert, so adaptability and reliability were high on his list. We suggested he try our Carese / Torno Enduro suit and judging by the subsequent review he wrote, Trev seemed pretty pleased with our recommendation. Here are just a few of the incredibly nice things he said about the suit:
|“I mean, how many adventure jackets and trousers do you know that look so purposeful in their packaging?..”
“It doesn’t take long to adjust the various straps and poppers to end up with a jacket that could be from motorcycling’s equivalent of Saville Row...”
“The Torno trousers are proper off-road competition spec...”
“Venting rivals anything from a Bentley dash and the Pittards’ low-slip leather bum panel cossets butt cheeks like Calvin Klein grundies...”
“600 miles later, after slogging through the snow covered Pyrenees, the dust and heat of Spain’s inhospitable desert plains and the usual flash rain storms; I understood why Held’s new kit is getting such rave reviews. Style and durability is second to none...”
“Despite wearing only a technical shirt and leggings underneath, I wasn’t bothered by the cold mountain air or cactus-wilting heat...”
“Overall rating: 12/10.”
We were really proud when a shot from the review made the cover of MCN, and since then Trev has used the suit regularly. Indeed, so impressed was he with the quality, that he now also wears our Slade race leathers for sportsbike duty and is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his custom-made Titan race gloves.
